Today’s post is one I’ve been really excited about sharing… a huge Colourpop haul! I’ve been put off ordering from Colourpop for a while as it is shipped from the USA, which usually works out being really expensive! Colourpop offer free UK shipping on orders over $50 (about £41), which I think is pretty reasonable. Obviously you will have to pay the customs fees (20% vat), but even with that extra cost added the eyeshadows are still only roughly £4.50 and the lip products £4.50 – £5.50 which still makes them super affordable.
Apologies that the swatches aren’t the best, I find photographing swatches so difficult (if anyone has any tips please let me know).
First up are the eyeshadows. I bought a few single eyeshadows and also a quad in the Perfectly Peach set. Eyeshadows are the product I was most interested in from Colourpop and I was not disappointed. All of the shades I bought, except for maybe one or two, have amazing pigmentation and colour payoff. They have such a wide range of shades on their website, but I decided to go for mainly warm toned shades that I knew I would wear a lot.
The texture of these shadows is what sets them apart from other shadows for me. They are just so squishy! They feel like a super soft, buttery powder cream mixture, I am such a big fan of this texture! I will say that the mattes don’t have quite as much pigmentation as the others, they are still great for the price though. My favourite shades are definitely LaLa and Porter!
As well as including four eyeshadows, the Perfectly Peach set included three lip products, one Ultra Satin Lip and two Ultra Matte Lips. I love the colours of all three, I haven’t worn them a lot yet but so far I prefer the finish of the Ultra Mattes.
I didn’t manage to get good swatches of all the lip products but I will update this post with one soon! I bought two Ultra Satin Lips (Aquarius, November, Frick and Frack), three Lippie Stix (Sure Thing, Lumiere, Button) and one Ultra Glossy Lip (Fairy Floss). I love the Lippie Stix and the Ultra Glossy Lip, Button and Fairy Floss look great together, but I’m slightly undecided on the Ultra Satin Lips. I’ve only worn them a couple of times so I haven’t completely made up my mind. They feel really comfortable on the lips and I like the texture and satin finish of them at first, but after a while they start to get that annoying tacky line on the inside of my lips which I can’t stand.
I decided to get a few of their eyeliners as barely own any and have heard great things about the colourpop ones! Honey Dude has instantly become a HG product for me! It is long wearing and the perfect skin tone shade to brighten the eyes without it looking too obvious and unnatural. Dirty Talk is such a pretty pale gold that adds a really beautiful metallic pop to any warm toned look. I haven’t had a chance to use the others yet, they are a little more outside my comfort zone!
Last but not least is the Hot To Trot set. This is a set of five mini dual ended sticks, one end is a Lippie Stix, the other is the matching lip liner shade. I absolutely love these, they are such a good idea and so handy to carry around! I was a bit surprised when I swatched them all as they look very different to the swatches on the Colourpop site, I still love all the colours though! There are two different formulas of Lippie Stix, Matte and Matte X, both of which I really like. They are really long lasting on me and feel really comfortable for a matte lipstick. The only downside is that you don’t get a lot of product in them, so if you’re using the same colour everyday it won’t last very long, but they are really great to try out different shades.
Overall I am really pleased with the products I ordered, I do wish that I had bought some of their highlighters as they look gorgeous. I guess that means I have an excuse to place another order eh?
